The Belin-Blank Center is excited to announce that we will be hosting the Innovation Institute (II) again this summer…and we need your help! Iowa students currently enrolled in grades 9-11 may nominate themselves for the Innovation Institute, a two-week residential summer technology and innovation immersion program at The University of Iowa. Please encourage any student that you believe is qualified to apply for this wonderful program.
The Innovation Institute engages student teams in solving authentic and important problems of interest to students and the community. Students work in teams to develop solutions utilizing STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Students pitch innovative technology design ideas and have an opportunity to bring their solution to life through commercialization. Teams will work with leading faculty and entrepreneurs in the STEM field and with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The Innovation Institute utilizes STEM Innovator curriculum to increase student’s capacity to engage in STEM innovation, inventiveness, and entrepreneurship. The Innovation Institute is administered by The Connie Belin & Jacqueline N. Blank International Center for Gifted Education and the Jacobson Institute for Youth Entrepreneurship. Each student selected will receive a $1,700 scholarship to cover the majority of the Institute’s cost. A remaining fee of $500 will be due from each student. Financial aid is available for qualifying families.
